25% Of Annual Burpees Target Reached

May 28, 2017|Tags: |2 Comments

Oh yeah. I'm behind my burpees schedule... Cycling in New Zealand & Burpees? I didn't dare to combine both so I'm little behind, especially since I was also lazy the last 6 weeks and didn't pick up the usual pace. We all know these days where we have no energy or aren't in the mood... In addition I'm not a morning person, don't like to exercise after waking up. Wait there is one exercise I like, not only in the morning, but it's a couple exercise! And if I want to workout in the evening there have been some beers made their way into my system... Haha, all these excuses!!! But now that I'm in Montreal I think I got back into my routine. Last two days 350 in total. I'm happy that I reached the 25% mark of my annual target of 25.000 Burpees today. If I gonna make it? Hard to say but I'll keep focussed on my Burpees routine.

Tongariro National Park – Alpine Crossing

March 7, 2017|Tags: , , , , , , |0 Comments

Always cycling is too boring so I went for a day hike in Tongariro National Park - Alpine Crossing. Pretty nice walk when there is good weather. What a great nature. Lucky German also had perfect hiking weather - sun & cloud mix. Not too cold and no rain. What could I have wished else for? Maybe a beer but that was served after the 20km hike. Met Rose & Joost, a Dutch couple and we did the tour together. Nice company throughout the day. We had the quick idea to hike up Mt  Doom but advice was to only go with proper boots & a helmet. We didn't have both so we decided to do the scenic tour. Good decision! Happy after the hike, had a farewell beer with Rose & Joost and cycled my way to my new hosts Kathryn and Raymond. I only met them the weekend during the Ironman in Taupo & was invited over to them already. Very good oven roasted lamb shoulder was waiting for me - felt like be in heaven after the dinner & a shower.

My first Ironman

March 5, 2017|2 Comments

...oh yes. I've never attended an Ironman as full day supporter. Now I had the chance to support my friend Danielle, who I met in Siem Reap back in October last year. Also Phillip, Tim & Alex participated and finished at the finish line. They look really fresh after that long day... Congrats Guys They all participated this challenging event. 3.8km swimming in open water (and it was windy that morning), 180km cycling & 42km running. Amazing what our body and mind can accomplish I'm only cycling a bit here... Congrats to all you guys. You did fanastic. I also met again so lovely people. The whole Taylor family, so lovely and open. It's the second family I met in New Zealand that has a real open door attitude - love it. Whenever my future living circumstances allow it - I'm going to do the same. It's so great to meet new people and exchange stories! The day after the race we had a BBQ and went floating down the river, nice and refreshing. Half way down was a hot spring where we warmed up quickly - best things in life are free... Now I'm on my way south. Will be little bit hilly but it's good training for the South Island...when I'm struggling with Jake on a hill with rain & wind  - I'll think of all the athletes achievements...

3.000 Burpees – 12% target achieved

February 10, 2017|Tags: , , , , |2 Comments

Burpee Update Burpees are nice, jump in Hostels, Hotels, Hallways - you can do them literally everywhere! But doing Burpees together is much more fun. You can push each other to your limits. Happy to have Willis joining me on my Burpee Challenge so we did a nice set of 6x25 in Port Douglas at the beach. He did very well - I was impressed, since usually people I train with give up quite early or just not used to Burpees. Reminded me when I started in 2015 with my Freeletics. Was done after 20 reps. That day I hit my 3.000st Burpee this year - still way to go but I know I can make it!!! Willis, keep up the good work - I'll keep checking on your progress mate!

A perfect day on Double Island!

February 1, 2017|Tags: , , , , |2 Comments

What else could I have asked for my birthday? Inga and Paul took me out on a day trip to Double Island...love Australian beaches! It's a 45 minutes drive up north from Sunshine Coast until you reach a little ferry that takes you to the island for 7 AUD, they also limit the daily visitor to the area at max 2.500 so it's never crowded. We went on a Tuesday so even less people, guess in total 100. The beach we stayed the day had only 3 cars parked - it was fantastic! Perfect day with sunshine, BBQ, surfing, beach fun and seafood platter overkill. Can't remember when I last had such a relaxed birthday - usually it's winter and cold around that time in Europe. Driving on the beach with snakes, jellyfish & seagulls. Did also some Burmese on the beach and finished my 2.500 burpee this year, 10% of my annual goal achieved - way to go. It was a day I'll never forget. So much fun with Inga's lovely family. I will be back!
